About Gabriel

Hi! I'm Gabriel, a current sixth form student at King Edward VI School (Stratford-upon-Avon).

I have been tutoring for nearly two years now, serving a variety of students ranging from KS3 and GCSE all the way up to A-levels. I have also hosted online IGCSE/CAIE A-level Chemistry tutoring sessions for groups up to 100 students in a Discord server of ~60,000 people.

For me, there's nothing more fulfilling than seeing a new science concept click in a student's head and enabling them to achieve their best grades—whether that be a foundational "pass" or the highest achievements.

In my GCSEs, I achieved nine Grade 9s, a Distinction 2* in BTEC, and an A in OCR FSMQ Additional Mathematics.

Prior to my GCSEs, I also independently completed the AQA A-level Chemistry specification autodidactically. I have continued to study Chemistry outside typical A-level syllabuses, participating in academic competitions such as the Cambridge Chemistry Challenge and the UK Chemistry Olympiad.

I'm currently studying Biology, Chemistry, Maths, and Further Maths for my upcoming A-levels.

Although I'm young, I truly believe the greatest advantage of student-led tutoring is being able to relate to the struggles of other students. Especially as I have worked with many GCSE students over the past year, I have a strong grasp of the concepts that are difficult to understand at first. I have developed simpler analogies that will make something "click" far better than tedious textbook definitions.

I truly hope to make science and maths easy and fascinating for anyone, regardless of prior attainment.

Having been a GCSE student myself not long ago, I deeply understand the specification's intricacies, common student pitfalls and exam insights to elevate a student from a Grade 5 to a 7, or a Grade 7 to a 9.

Having been a personal tutor for almost 2 years prior, I also understand that different students have different needs - a student with lower prior attainment will require a very different approach than a student that aims to excel above the syllabus.

I currently offer tutoring in the following subjects:
- AQA GCSE Combined Science (F/H)
- AQA GCSE Triple Science (All 3) (F/H)
- AQA GCSE Maths (F/H)
- OCR FSMQ Additional Mathematics

My lessons are going to be heavily centred around the students personal needs, as I adapt my teaching style and depth of content accordingly to the student's existing strengths and weaknesses, helping them to both understand tricky concepts in maths and science, and to apply their knowledge with fluency in a large range of exam questions.

A typical lesson will last 60 minutes. Prior to the lesson, I will ask for the student to provide me with a topic/area they want to work with, and create dedicated resources and slides that are personalised for the student to work through during the lesson.

During the lesson, the student should be able to interact with me freely, asking questions they don't understand during an explanation, in order to ensure the deepest understanding of a topic. Once understanding is assured, we would move onto applying their knowledge into unfamiliar exam scenarios, with model answer walkthroughs.
