About Tom

Hi, I'm Tom Sanderson, founder of Tom Sanderson Tutoring. I started out in 2017 working in care, supporting adults with autism — it was there I discovered how much I enjoyed helping people build the skills and confidence to pursue further education, and that experience is what led me into tutoring. When the Covid-19 pandemic hit, I lost a lot of my work, so in May 2020 I set up my own tutoring business and have been running it ever since.

I hold a BSc (Hons) in Psychology from the University of Northampton (2022) and an Enhanced DBS check. I specialise in 11+ preparation (both CEM and GL Assessment formats, though I'm most familiar with GL), GCSE Maths and English, and SEN support, using Positive Psychology techniques to help children build confidence at their own pace.

About the lesson

My approach to teaching is conversational rather than lecture-based. While I may introduce the topic, you're free to jump in with questions and comments throughout. I want to encourage everyone's curious side, not just have them sit and listen. My goal is to build real confidence, not just cover a syllabus; there's so much to learn, and school often only scratches the surface.

Session lengths are typically an hour but can be adjusted to suit your needs, and I'm available in person around Milton Keynes or online. I specialise in 11+ preparation (Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning, Maths and English, across both CEM and GL Assessment formats), GCSE Maths and English, and SEN support. I also tutor Psychology and Social Science from GCSE through to degree level, drawing on my own BSc (Hons) in Psychology and background in qualitative research.
