I mix tuition alongside a career as a freelance writer and performer. I've written work across all dramatic and literary platforms (including both stage and television). Vastly experienced in delivering both science and English to GCSE level, across all academic levels. I offer a different method to a traditional 'school experience’; I have an informal, relaxed approach and adopt a 'big brother' role with the students. Building a relationship with each student is vitally important in order to gain their trust and establish their learning patterns and requirements. This has garnered excellent results with students of all different abilities. On average, students have experienced a 'jump' of two grades within a year.
I offer:
English Lit/Lang: (Year 9 – GCSE) (AQA/Edexcel) Fully versed and with detailed knowledge of the examination board syllabus, I’ve had significant success preparing students for KS3 and especially GCSEs. I'm able to give the student the confidence to be creative and the tips & direction to be able to analyse and critique with precision and clarity. GCSE Literature Texts covered are: - Macbeth/Romeo & Juliet - Christmas Carol/Frankenstein/Sign of Four/Jekyll & Hyde - An Inspector Calls/Of Mice and Men - Power and Conflict Poetry
The Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) (Year 9 - GCSE) (Edexcel/AQA) With a deep knowledge of the all three sciences, I'm able to simplify the curriculum and transfer key concepts to students quickly and effectively. Providing the tips and exam technique so the students can apply the knowledge is also critical to the students success and often overlooked.
Lessons are typically 1 or 1.5 hours, but are ultimately designed around the students' needs.
I'm passionate about providing a fun and entertaining environment that fosters confidence within my clients and this has led to fast and effective results.
