About Ema

I have been obsessed with food and cooking since the age of about 7, when I would pore over recipe books, learn from watching tv cookery shows, and cook/bake whenever I could persuade my mum to let me! I am a sourddough afficionado, baker de excellence (I entered the GBBO many years ago), love creating my own recipes, and veganising the heck out of everything I come across. Not content with just following a recipe, I will practice and tweak any recipe that isn't perfect, until it's exactly as I want it to be.

About the lesson

My teaching method is tailored around the experience and needs of the student. I go for no-nonsense approach and clarity, with a compassionate, positive empowering approach. I demonstrate and explain why a certain technique or ingredient is best for the job, or if something can be replaced, with what. I also highlight pitfalls to avoid, and why, to help my students learn from my experience! Palate development is a key skill I look to develop in students - you may have added all the right ingredients to your dish, but it can still taste bland, if you don't taste, season and tweak to release those flavours.

My rates will vary according to the price of the ingredients being used, and the level of the student. I can also run bespoke veganised recipe classes, if there's a particular dish the student would like to be able to cook as a vegan recipe (recipe development time will cost extra).
