About Amy
As an experienced pianist and teacher with almost 25 years experience in teaching piano, I have been teaching piano almost as long as I have been playing it. I have full confidence in my abilities to improve the skills of any pianist, regardless of whether they are an absolute beginner on their first lesson or an adult looking to advance the skills they already possess. Extra information about me: I have professionally recorded an album of piano music and also have years of experience playing jazz and easy-listening music in restaurants, for weddings, parties, and more. I was also a church pianist for many years.

-I have been playing the piano for 30 years. I studied under one of the best private instructors in metro Atlanta before continuing my education at the Johnson Ferry Conservatory, as well as minoring in music in college. All of this experience and knowledge is used in my lessons.
-The biggest strengths which set me apart from other pianists are my emphasis on dynamics, a controlled touch, improvisation, emotion, and sight reading. These are things I like to emphasize with my students.
-As a former teacher in real life in other subjects, this allows me to bring my experience into play as a piano and music teacher and thus work well with any age student, putting them at ease and adapting lessons and music knowledge easily for any skill level.
-I have taught several piano students from beginners to give them a great foundation as musicians who have gone on to become church pianists and musicians. I will set goals with any student and make sure I know what type of music they like the most and what their goals are concerning piano. We will work towards that, in addition to establishing the basic piano knowledge all students need.
-I can also work with any student who is already proficient on the piano to improve their skills at genres such as gospel, worship, pop, jazz, classical, K-pop, anime themes, country and folk, and more.

Perfect! She was very sweet to my children.
- All four students have talent and can do very well. The oldest student will be able to progress smoothly with no problems as long as he is engaged in music he enjoys and keeps at an appropriate level of piano so as not to get bored. He has a lot of natural talent and discipline that I see when playing. The next student has a lot of natural talent as well, but he just needs to slow down some and allow his fingers to catch up with his mind. He will do best with more engaging songs and materials that harness his imagination so he won’t be bored. The six-year old is doing well also and is on the right track. The youngest student has a natural ear for music and should be able to learn as well as long as he can be disciplined to listen during lessons. So, we will just find some things to keep him engaged and parents can help him practice throughout the week so he can advance (I think he will enjoy it more if he sees if he learning each week).Amy's response :

Hi, my granddaughter studied Spanish with Amy. She is incredible! She has spoken Spanish since she was a child, self-taught then added to that many years of taking Spanish formally. She has spend numerous years in Mexico and has served as an interpreter for organizations as well as private individuals. Highly recommend!!!
