About Marlon
I’m a Scottish/German composer and producer based in Glasgow specialising in music production, songwriting, and film scoring. I studied Music Technology at UWS and Sound for the Moving Image at Glasgow School of Art, giving me solid grounding in both the technical and creative sides of music-making.
After interning with producer Douglas Romanow in Toronto and working under Simon Janes at The Homeward Recording Company in Brighton, I’ve engineered and composed for numerous film and music projects worldwide. I also run my own solo project Fall Garden.
I teach from a visual, compositional perspective, helping students understand how to build compelling soundscapes, whether for their own productions or film work. I break everything down into digestible concepts using Ableton, GarageBand, Logic Pro and modern production workflows.
With over 10 years of music production experience I offer tuition at all levels. My aim is to establish an inspiring and collaborative learning environment that is tailored to your specific needs and desires as a developing producer. This work is all about getting you to a place where you can confidently release music that feels like a genuine expression of your creative desires, while at the same time expanding your personal library of production techniques that you can go back to again and again.

How lessons work:
Online / In person lessons from 30 mins to 2 hours—whatever suits your pace. I charge £15 for 30 mins or £25 for 1 hour, with flexible timing for breaks in between if necessary.
What you’ll learn:
I teach music production in Ableton, Garage Band and Logic Pro to beginners through to advanced producers. Before we start properly, we’ll have a free 30 minute session to discuss your goals and influences—whether that’s vocal production, drum programming, songwriting or film scoring. This helps me create a tailored plan that keeps you motivated and moving efficiently toward your goals.
Why this approach:
My focus is on adapting to you. Every student learns differently, so I adjust my teaching style, lesson length, and pacing based on what works best for your progress.

Marlon is patient and he explains complex information with ease. He is a passionate musician and equally as passionate when sharing his knowledge with his students. Lessons were fun and I learned a lot. I highly recommend!
Marlon is deserving of super professional status. Communications prompt and courteous. First of all, a quick free half hour on Zoom in which he took care to identify my learning objectives. Great listener and clearly wants to ensures pupils get a custom made package. I wanted to learn how to do some home recording. I had all the gear (for about 8 years)....but no idea! And this was one area in which Youtube, unusually, couldn't help me.
In the first lesson, from a standing start, as a senior well behind the digital curve, I learned about DAWs etc., and was given a practical, real life demonstration of how recordings can be done. It was as if I'd been given the key to unlock what had been a total block for all these years. When I got home I put together a few chords (from which a tune emerged) and began multilayering my own wee project. Magic! Who'd of thought?
I'd forgotten some of the editing and tweaking controls/commands, but on second lesson (in my own music room), even more of the mystery was demystified.
Still got lots to learn but , most importantly, I have actually got started. I just feel so encouraged and freed up to become ever more musically creative....an ambition that has been so frustrated for ages. Great to have found Marlon and very grateful for all that he's shown me and that his knowledge has been imparted so thoughtfully, sensitively and professionally. Highly recommended!View more recommendations
