About Paola

As a child, I struggled with math irrevocably. In middle school I met a teacher who instilled a new approach in me. Every day before class, I'd say "I love math". Long story short- it worked. I value consistency, professionalism, and building trust with both students and families. Outside of academics, I enjoy Roblox and learning game development.

About the lesson

My approach as a tutor is centered around patience, consistency, and understanding how each student learns differently. I like to start slowly by identifying a student’s strengths, struggles, and learning style before building a plan that helps them feel more confident over time. Instead of only memorizing formulas or steps, I encourage students to think critically and approach problems from different angles so they can truly understand the material.

A typical lesson usually begins with reviewing previous concepts, practicing together step-by-step, and then working toward independent problem solving with guidance when needed. I also believe small amounts of daily practice make a huge difference in long-term improvement.

What sets me apart is my background leading STEM initiatives throughout college, tutoring peers across subjects, and supporting students with different learning needs, including reading and writing support for students with learning disabilities.
I work with elementary through college-level students, especially those who may feel intimidated by math or need extra patience and encouragement.
