About Nathan

Hi, I'm Nathan and I'm a dedicated Year 13 student who is currently studying Maths, Physics and Computer Science for my A-Levels.

Maths has always been my passion and strongest subject. I've achieved a grade 9 in my GCSE Mathematics and recently achieved a 99% in my year 12 mock A-Level exams. The reason for this success is because I have spent numerous years studying not only the topics and procedures but also the desired methods which the examiners are looking for.

While adult tutors are excellent, they may seem out-of-touch as it has been years since they personally experienced the stress and pressure of being in the exam room. Having been in the exact same situation myself a little over a year ago, I understand the common misconceptions students may have and can give guidance with recent, first-hand experience.

I plan my lessons around patience, encouragement and organisation. I know what it's like to have anxiety during exam season so my goal is to transform maths from a subject that people dread to one that people are confident in.

About the lesson

As a person who recently completed my GCSEs and achieved a grade 9, I strongly believe that an interactive, supportive and gradual study plan is most beneficial for top results. Short but effective lessons that focus on key topics are key to maximise results while minimising burn-out.

This is the standard lesson plan for a student preparing for their GCSEs:

A 5-minute warm-up with general questions centred around the key topics that make up the most marks.

A 15-minute breakdown on the topic of today's session showing the method of solving exam questions via talked through examples while answering any questions a student may have.

A 35-minute practice of real exam questions where I can provide guidance if a student requires help or explanation.

A 5-minute review of today's session where I highlight what went well and the focus of the next session.
