About Mursalin

I'm Mursalin, a second-year Industrial Economics student at the University of Nottingham - a Russell Group university. Before university, I attended Bedford Modern School where I achieved an A* in A-Level Psychology alongside Economics (A) and Mathematics (B), as well as ten GCSEs including a Grade 8 in Maths.

Psychology was my strongest and most enjoyable A-Level subject. I found the combination of scientific rigour, real-world application and essay-based analysis genuinely engaging: and that enthusiasm comes through in how I teach it. I understand what makes the subject click and where students commonly get stuck, particularly with research methods and evaluation technique.

Outside of academics, I appeared on ITV's The Chase in 2026, which speaks to my ability to think quickly, stay calm under pressure and communicate confidently: qualities I bring into every tutoring session.

I'm reliable, punctual and genuinely invested in my students' progress. I understand the pressure of exams because I've been through them recently myself, so I know what works when it comes to building confidence and improving grades. I'm based in Bedford and available for both in-person and online sessions, with flexible scheduling around evenings and weekends.

About the lesson

I tailor every session around what the student actually finds difficult rather than just working through the textbook topic by topic. Psychology is a subject where understanding the studies and being able to evaluate them critically matters far more than rote memorisation: I focus on building that deeper understanding so knowledge sticks and transfers into exam answers.

Sessions typically last one hour. I start by revisiting any problem areas from the previous session, introduce or reinforce a topic with clear explanation and memorable examples, then move into guided practice using past paper questions from the relevant exam board. I finish with a brief recap and set a focused task for the week ahead so progress carries between sessions.

I place particular emphasis on the skills that separate good grades from great ones: structuring 16-mark essays effectively, writing sharp AO3 evaluation points, and applying psychological concepts to novel scenarios. Research methods is another area where students often lose marks unnecessarily, and I break it down into clear, logical steps.

I achieved an A* in A-Level Psychology and studied the subject alongside Economics and Mathematics at Bedford Modern School. My lessons are aimed at A-Level students looking to build confidence with the content, sharpen their evaluation and essay technique, and improve their grades. I'm patient, clear and happy to go over things as many times as needed.
