About Maya

Hi! My name is Maya, and I'm a Grade 12 student with a 98% academic average who is passionate about learning and helping others succeed. I have always enjoyed math and science, but I also love helping students improve in English and other core subjects. My goal is to make learning less stressful and help students gain the confidence they need to reach their full potential.

Outside of school, I am a certified lifeguard and swim instructor, where I have developed strong communication, leadership, and teaching skills while working with children of all ages. I also completed a healthcare co-op placement at Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, which strengthened my problem-solving abilities, professionalism, and passion for education and healthcare. I am currently preparing to pursue a career in medicine.

I believe every student is capable of success when they receive the right support. I strive to create a patient, encouraging, and positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning from their mistakes. Whether your child needs extra help with homework, test preparation, or understanding challenging concepts, I am committed to helping them build both their knowledge and their confidence.

About the lesson

Hi! I'm a Grade 12 student with a 98% academic average and a passion for helping others learn. I offer tutoring in math, science, English, and other core subjects for elementary students and early high school students. I understand that every student learns differently, so I tailor each lesson to their individual learning style, pace, and goals.

My teaching approach focuses on building confidence as well as understanding. Rather than simply giving answers, I explain concepts step by step, encourage students to ask questions, and use examples until they feel comfortable solving problems independently. A typical lesson begins with reviewing previous material, identifying any areas of difficulty, introducing or practicing new concepts, and finishing with review questions to reinforce learning.

What sets me apart is my patience, organization, and ability to relate to younger students. Through running my own swim instruction business, I have gained extensive experience teaching children of different ages and adapting my approach to meet each learner's needs. My strong academic background and passion for education allow me to make learning engaging, encouraging, and stress-free.

Whether your child needs help catching up, preparing for a test, completing homework, or building stronger study habits, I am committed to helping them achieve their goals in a positive and supportive environment.
