About Karis

I graduated in the top 3 percent of my high school class and have extensive experience in raising my peer's grades. I am an AP/ honors student as well as a track and field athlete so I understand the need for flexibility in student's schedules. I will be attending the Air Force Academy next year and I attribute this success mainly to my academic achievements. I spent my 4 years in high school as a part of multiple tutoring programs as well as a ministry partner for younger children at my church. I am well equipped to teach and I find joy in helping other people reach their goals.

About the lesson

As an older sister of 5 siblings I have extensive experience in teaching with kindness and patience. Every comment and question is welcome because I believe that engagement is the best way to learn. I am a type A personality so I am always organized and prepared for my lessons with plenty of material. I ran a tutoring program in high school (Kitty Hawk Air Society) which taught me how to cater to all different learning types and engage with students. I volunteered as a high school math tutor with Tutors For Change and watched as my student turned his grades from C's and D's to A's and B's because I encourage all questions. I don't move on from a subject until I am certain that my student could teach it back to me. A typical lesson consists of an outline based on student needs and plenty of time for questions and explanations.
I have the most experience tutoring middle and high school students due to peer tutoring programs. However, I have experience teaching elementary students and find that my patience, positive disposition, and methodical teaching style works well with students of all ages.
