About Ali

Hi, I'm Ali, a University of Waterloo Computer Science student with a strong passion for mathematics, physics, and engineering. Throughout high school, I maintained a high academic standing, graduating with a 97% average while taking challenging university-preparation courses, including Advanced Functions, Calculus and Vectors, and Physics.

Beyond academics, I was actively involved in robotics, athletics, and leadership. I was a member of my high school's robotics team for all four years and served as a club executive during my senior years. As part of FIRST Robotics Competition Team 2702, I worked alongside students and industry mentors to design, build, and program competitive robots. Our team finished among the top-performing teams globally, placing within the top 1% by the end of the season.

I am also a student-athlete and a black belt in karate. During Grades 11 and 12, I competed at both provincial and international levels, earning multiple medals through dedication, discipline, and consistent training. I also served as the goalkeeper for my high school soccer team, further developing teamwork, communication, and leadership skills.

These experiences have shaped the way I teach. I understand the importance of patience, persistence, and adapting to different learning styles. My goal is not only to help students improve their grades but also to help them build confidence, develop strong problem-solving skills, and achieve their academic goals. Whether a student is looking to strengthen their foundations, prepare for tests and exams, or challenge themselves with advanced concepts, I am committed to helping them succeed.

Hi, I'm Ali, a University of Waterloo Computer Science student with a 97% high school average and recent experience completing the Ontario curriculum at a high level.

I offer tutoring for Grade 11 Functions (MCR3U), Grade 12 Advanced Functions (MHF4U), Grade 12 Calculus and Vectors (MCV4U), and Grade 12 Physics (SPH4U). Because I completed these courses recently and have access to the current WRDSB curriculum, I understand the expectations, common challenges students face, and the skills needed to succeed on tests, assignments, and exams.

My teaching approach focuses on building understanding rather than memorization. I break down complex concepts into simple, manageable steps and explain not only how to solve problems, but why each step works. I encourage students to ask questions and develop confidence in their problem-solving abilities.

A typical lesson begins with a review of previous material and any questions the student has. We then work through new concepts using examples, followed by guided practice and increasingly challenging problems. I also help students prepare for quizzes, tests, and final exams by reviewing key concepts and teaching effective problem-solving strategies.

What sets me apart is that I have recently completed these courses with strong results and understand exactly what students are expected to know. I can provide practical tips, efficient problem-solving methods, and exam preparation strategies that helped me achieve success in these subjects.

My lessons are designed for Ontario high school students taking Functions, Advanced Functions, Calculus and Vectors, or Physics who want to improve their grades, strengthen their understanding, and gain confidence in mathematics and science.
