About Madde
Even though my degree is in Biomedical Science, teaching has quietly become one of my favorite things to do. Working with students over the years, I’ve discovered how rewarding it is to explain ideas in different ways, watch things finally “click,” and see their confidence grow. Some of my best moments as a tutor have been seeing a student smile over a subject they once hated, or hearing them say, “Oh, this actually isn’t that bad!” Those little shifts—from stressed and confused to curious and proud—are what keep me coming back to tutoring and make me genuinely love what I do.

My lessons are all about making tricky science and maths feel doable, relaxed, and a bit fun. I like to mix clear explanations with lots of examples, past-paper style questions, and creative tricks (diagrams, stories, colours, quizzes) so it suits different learning styles, whether you’re a visual, hands-on, or talk-it-through learner. We set small goals each session, celebrate wins, and keep things chatty enough that you feel comfortable asking “silly” questions (which are never actually silly).
A typical lesson is around 60 minutes, which gives enough time to recap tricky bits, learn something new, and practise exam-style questions without your brain melting. I’m happy to tweak this for shorter, focused bursts or longer revision blocks if needed, especially around exam season.
I’m a Biomedical Science graduate from the University of Waikato with several years of tutoring experience, including working with students in Cambridge, New Zealand through structured programmes. That’s given me a good feel for different curricula, common problem areas, and how to break big, scary topics into manageable chunks.
My lessons are for school students roughly Years 9–13 (around ages 13–18) who want help with Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Maths—whether you’re aiming to pass comfortably, push up to top grades, or rebuild lost confidence. I’m happy working with neurodivergent learners, anxious test-takers, and anyone who’s convinced they’re “just not a science person” and wants to prove themselves wrong.
