About Georgia
“Georgia Wang is a musician of extraordinary quality and depth.” (John Perry) In performance, Georgia is “sincere with every moment so that every moment is new” (Henri-Paul Sicsic).
A student of life, Georgia is curious about diverse fields such as spirituality, psychology, philosophy, and the visual and literary arts. Exposure to the work of pianist Marek Jablonski, painter Tom Thomson, composer Franz Schubert, and many others have profoundly shaped her artistic sensibilities. Recent projects include giving piano recitals in Xiamen and Shanghai in June 2025. Georgia also organized an art showcase in July 2024 demonstrating a combination of her artistic learnings: a solo piano performance, visual art exhibition, and a reading of her poetry book Going and Being (2021). Georgia strives to play music in a way that is accessible and meaningful to both devoted classical music listeners and curious newcomers.
During her time at the Mason Gross School of the Arts, Georgia was honored to receive The Presser Foundation Undergraduate Award (2022), given to one student at the end of their junior year, and the Elizabeth Wyckoff Durham Award (2023), recognizing her musical and academic achievements. Previously, she was a national finalist in the 2017 and 2019 Canadian Music Competitions. At The Glenn Gould School (2023-2025), she worked extensively on chamber music, and was the accompanist for the Oscar Peterson School Choirs and the Bach Children’s Chorus. She continues to perform, give piano lessons, and is a piano accompanist for the BCC and inquiring musicians.
One morning in her hometown of Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, seven-year-old Georgia woke up to find a small electronic piano beside the Christmas tree and, with the support of her parents, began lessons shortly thereafter. She is grateful to the piano teachers who have nurtured all aspects of her development, including Ms. Maureen Hollins. She has benefited from the insightful objectivity of Prof. David Louie, the compassionate and intuitive approach of Dr. Henri-Paul Sicsic, and the masterful guidance of Prof. John Perry.

I think my first role is to meet the student where they are by listening fully and attentively to them, which is necessary in order to understand how it is I can help them in any area of their life. In this case, as a piano teacher, my concern would be that which concerns their music-making, their goals, and their overall musical experience. Openness and presence, instead of following what I have pre-determined to be "right" (strictly adhering to a pre-determined plan), is the most important part of the job, because, without it completely, there is no relationship with the student and no guarantee that I can truly be a support to them. Having a plan can still be a good idea though, as long as we are in touch with how things are at every step! I am also open to students outside of lessons via email and text. Depending on what the student needs, lessons will alternate between technical exercises, theory, playing of pieces, some listening/experiencing of music, sight-reading...etc.

Perfect! Georgia is patient, very flexible, and enthusiastic.
- It was great to meet you! We will get into more of a flow when we get to know each other better.Georgia's response :
Perfect! Georgia was an excellent tutor. Patient, calm and great with kids. Highly recommended!
- I think the lesson went well today! We got started on some technique exercises with two-octave major scales. I briefly introduced the chromatic scale too. For music reading, we started on a Bach Prelude that has a repetitive rhythmic pattern and a simple left-hand part. Nikolas was receptive, patient, and kind.Georgia's response :
Next lesson, I'll check and give feedback on what Nikolas was able to work on during practice, and any concerns...etc. he might have. I'll meet him wherever he is at. Depending on how things go, I will add different technical exercises or we can improve the current ones. As for the music reading, we can work a little more on the Bach prelude, and try some left-hand work on a different piece. I'll try to print some sheet music of composers he is interested in.
