About Lochlan
I am a songwriter and composer. I would like to teach in order to pass on my own passion for music and because I believe that music should be taught in an engaging way to inspire and discover people’s potential. Too much of education is about forcing people into rigid frameworks which doesn’t provide a good environment for creativity and individuality to flourish. I believe in tailoring education to suit each person and aim to be fun and engaging. The purpose of education should be to inspire and foster people’s individual potential, not to kill creativity and expression.

I place an emphasis on making lessons fun and teaching people skills by learning songs that they wish to be able to play, as opposed to learning rigid theory or scales in a traditional manner. I then introduce more theoretical knowledge and increase complexity once the student progresses in order to foster their potential. However, having the initial interest and desire to learn is crucial. The most important thing is that the student enjoys piano because they will want to learn more and progress.
