About Katie

I am an experienced educator and school leader dedicated to helping students grow with confidence and purpose. I bring a strong understanding of curriculum, assessment, and effective instruction, allowing me to quickly identify learning gaps and provide targeted support. About the lesson

My approach is student-centered, data-driven, and focused on building both skill and confidence. I use a combination of explicit instruction, guided practice, and meaningful application to ensure students truly understand—not just memorize—content. I intentionally incorporate questioning strategies, real-world connections, and structured discussion to deepen thinking and engagement.

Teaching Methods & Techniques:
I use targeted mini-lessons, modeling (“I do”), collaborative practice (“We do”), and independent application (“You do”). I also integrate formative checks for understanding, differentiated supports, and scaffolds to meet students where they are. I frequently use data from assessments to adjust instruction in real time.

A Typical Lesson:
Each session begins with a quick review or warm-up to activate prior knowledge. I then introduce a focused skill or concept, model the thinking process, and guide students through practice. The majority of the lesson is hands-on, with students actively solving problems, analyzing texts, or applying strategies. I end with a quick assessment or reflection to measure progress and plan next steps.
