I'm a dedicated and approachable tutor with a passion for helping students build confidence and succeed academically. I specialize in high school and college-level algebra as well as history courses. My tutoring style is supportive, adaptable, and rooted in educational research. I was trained through EMU's SI program, where I gained valuable experience in student-centered teaching methods and collaborative learning. Whether a student is struggling with new concepts or aiming to sharpen their skills, I meet them where they are and help them move forward with clarity and confidence. I have a bachelor's degree in history with a minor in historic preservation from Eastern Michigan University. I am currently training to become a teacher through Valparaiso University's transition to teaching program, where I am focusing on becoming a math teacher.

I adapt my approach to each student's learning style and academic goals, drawing from educational theories such as constructivism and scaffolding to guide instruction. -Each lesson is tailored to the individual student, but generally follows a consistent structure to ensure clarity and progress. I begin by checking in on the student's understanding of previous materials and addressing any lingering questions. Next, I introduce the day's objectives and break down new content into manageable segments. I use visual aids, real-world examples, and interactive problem-solving to explain concepts. We finish with a review of key points and a brief discussion of strategies or assignments to prepare for the next session. -What sets me apart is my formal training and practical experience through Eastern Michigan University's Supplemental Instruction (SI) Program, where I learned how to facilitate effective group sessions and apply educational research in real-world tutoring settings. I bring both structure and adaptability to my sessions, combining a deep understanding of subject matter with techniques designed to help students actively engage with the material. I also prioritize creating a supportive, judgment-free space where students feel encouraged to ask questions and take intellectual risks. -I tutor high school and college students, with a focus on algebra (including high school and college level) and a wide range of history courses. My students include those looking to strengthen foundational skills, improve grades, prepare for exams, or gain confidence in challenging subjects. I work with learners from diverse backgrounds and academic levels, including those with learning differences or anxiety around math or history.
