About Nicholas

I am currently a second year student at Monash University here in Melbourne. I previously studied at Harrow International School in Hong Kong, where I studied Mathematics, Physics and Politics as my final subjects in the sixth form. Before that, I was raised in Vancouver, BC. I hold Australian, British, Canadian and HK citizenships and have been to many countries around the world. I am interested in Music, History, Geopolitics, Aviation and Astronomy. I also play the electric guitar and am a big fan of rock music.

About the lesson

I can help with studying for exams, consolidating topic knowledge, homework, coursework and further knowledge within the given subject being taught. My method to empathize best with the students is to put myself in their shoes, having been a school student myself not very long ago, and try to be the teacher I wish I had. I find it helps me connect with the students the best and that leads them to enjoy the lessons more and therefore be more engaged with their learning. I am good at rephrasing, and have often had to explain complicated topics using different approaches and analogies to illustrate them to the student the best and most memorable way. I am also a good listener and can often easily sense when the student is losing interest or wants to take a different approach.

I previously worked as a private tutor at Scholar Group Ltd., which was a tutoring centre in Hong Kong, and I worked there on and off for two years. As a former international school student myself I helped many young children achieve their dreams of getting into Hong Kong's prestigious international schools by helping them pass their entrance exams. I also helped many international school students with their coursework and exams. My lessons were typically an hour long, but I often did two hour lessons. I taught students from the ages of 3 – 18, covering Mathematics and English mainly. I am also very knowledgeable in History, and competed for my school in the International History Bee and Bowl championships for multiple years.
