About Lois

I know that learning a new language can be difficult and, at times, overwhelming. I will do my best to help you learn without applying too much pressure. I am a resource for you; one that wants you to learn at a pace that you are comfortable with. I am a rather easygoing individual and will not penalize you for small mistakes, unless absolutely necessary. I am here for your needs and interests.

When you work with me you will not only get a tutor, but a mentor. I want you to be able to reach the highest level of proficiency possible at a comfortable pace.

I am a student too, so I know how demanding life's stressors can be. Due to that fact, I know that learning a language while also working full-time, being a full-time student, a parent, or even all of the above can be very stressful and overwhelming. I empathize with everyone as I know that everyone is different and has their own lives.
Let's be honest... things happen. There is nothing wrong with that and I understand.

Regardless of all of that, I am here to help you reach your goals at a pace that works for you without the overwhelming stress. I will do my best to work with you, and not against you.

About the lesson

My teaching method involves speaking and listening. I want my students to practice and be exposed to as much L2 as possible in all forms; i.e. reading, writing, speaking, etc. I teach my classes in Spanish. I will not be using English unless absolutely necessary, as studies show that the more exposure students get with the target language, the better they are able to "pick it up".
We will come up with a unique "plan for success" based on what you know about the language, your proficiency level, and your goals.

Lesson plans are based on 45-60 minute sessions. I will divide this time up into sections for different activities depending on what we are working on. Activities that I will include throughout all of my lesson plans will fall into one of the following categories:
Interpretive, interpersonal or presentational.

I work with students from k-12, but I am also open to tutoring students in their early college years [18-20].

If there is any specific request that you have, I will do my best to work with you and adjust to what would be best for you, as a student.
