About Raz
Graduated from the “Florence Academy of Art,” Florence, Italy, in 2010. Moved to the USA and since then I’ve been working in my studio in Boulder, Colorado, painting portraits and figures from life. Experimenting and exploring constantly. I taught at the Art Students League of Denver, then founded the “Boulder School of Fine Art,” in Boulder, Colorado, in 2016. My approach is very personal, hands-on, and individual. I know how to read the personality of my students, so I can guide them and help them in their own personal journey towards their goals. Painting all these years, my style has evolved towards more modern, intuitive with a hint of modern Impressionism. Today, I paint portraits using only a palette knife instead of brushes, so lots of movement and expression with thick impastos. Check out my website razseri.com . The student will start from the beginning. First, he/she will learn the basics of drawing with pencil, charcoal, and then charcoal and white chalk mixed together, and slowly will grow towards oil painting, first painting with black and white, then full palette. We will start by copying master drawings, then 3D plaster cast, if i come to your home. If online, we can work from pictures . This method is based on the French academy way of the 19th century. After understanding the basics of drawing, which are contour, light and shadow, quality of line, gesture, etc., he/she will move to painting either still life from life, or portraits from pictures. My method of teaching is based on many years of experience, based on my education in Florence, the infinite hours spent in my studio painting and 10 years of teaching at the “Boulder School of Fine Art,” an art school I founded with my business partner in 2016, in Boulder, Colorado. This class gears to all types of painting genres, from classical to modern. You will learn the basics, then we will work on the style you wish to go towards. Lessons are for 16 and up, all levels are welcome.
