The biggest benefit of private tutoring from a student's perspective is the ability to have all of their teaching completely customised to their individual needs. Each of my sessions will begin with clear objectives, then we'll move into teaching, practice questions, or a mix of the two, and we'll end with a plenary where I can assess any persistent knowledge gaps. I also often set homework outside of sessions if my student's schedule permits, as it offers a great opportunity for the student to consolidate their knowledge and allows me an insight into their level of understanding. I am extremely reliable and always ensure I'm easily contactable outside of sessions. Though I create detailed lesson plans before each of my sessions, I am highly adaptable and always want to make sure my lessons are as effective as possible. My lessons are typically 55 minutes long and I teach GCSE maths and science, A-level chemistry, biology and maths, and chemistry university admissions. I have a first-class MChem degree from the University of Oxford and achieved three A*s in my A-levels (chemistry, biology and maths). I have over five years of experience as a private tutor, in both a paid and voluntary capacity.

I’ve known Kyla for many years, throughout which she has always shown a passion for teaching others and an aptitude for explaining complex topics in understandable formats for a wide range of audiences.
Kyla is a fantastic tutor - I've known her for many years, and we studied together at Oxford. She always puts her students first, and is highly organised and reliable. She works hard to tailor each lesson to the student's needs, so that their specific goals are achieved. As a friend, she is very kind and supportive, and that translates to a learning environment where students can thrive.
Kyla mentored me through a successful application to study Chemistry at Oxford.
We had a wide variety of sessions in which Kyla taught me new content, worked with me through Olympiad questions and also delivered mock interviews. She always went above and beyond to ensure I got everything I needed from our sessions. Outside of these, we were in regular contact and she was always happy to adapt and change the plan if I came across a new topic or problem that I wanted to discuss with short notice. I largely attribute my place at Oxford to Kyla and genuinely feel indebted to her for her help. The level of investment she has in her students truly sets Kyla apart, and I cannot recommend her enough.Kyla is one of the most passionate tutors you'll meet! She's not only really enthusiastic and motivated to help others learn, she also has a very in depth understanding of the subjects she teaches and is genuinely fascinated by the topics, which comes across when talking to her and during her tutoring. Her experience and success as a tutor speaks for itself and I cannot recommend Kyla highly enough!
