Psychology

About Alistair

I started my educational journey with a BSc in Psychology from the University of Stirling, where my dissertation focus was on the learning capabilities of young children, particularly in regards to the philosophical notion of epistemic defeat. This dissertation was created alongside the ARED Project at the University of Stirling. I then stayed to complete an MSc in Psychology Research, where I focused on child development. I found myself drawn towards research that combined developmental psychology and autism research. My dissertation focus was on using special interests in the classroom to support learners with autism. During this degree I used feedback and self-review techniques to bring my overall grade from a 2:1 in my BSc to a First, which I am very proud of. During these degrees I found myself drawn towards developmental psychology and pedagogy. I decided to work towards becoming a Primary School teacher, as work experience as a classroom assistant in an additional needs classroom taught me so much, but also developed my love of teaching. Currently, I am studying a PGDE in Primary Education from the University of Strathclyde, and I absolutely love it.

About the lesson

Lessons will last for 1 hour. If you wish to focus on a specific topic, this must be noted in advance. Around 15-20 minutes of Lesson 1 will be dedicated to discussing what you would like to focus on, and lessons will be bespoke to your needs. I am currently training to be a Primary School teacher, and so I am also very familiar with creating lesson plans and overviews. I vary my teaching methods depending on who you are as a person and what you like. Due to my focus on differentiated support, I am also adept at working with learners with additional support needs, such as Autism and ADHD.
