About Jhoyvan
I am a qualified Jamaican chemistry teacher with a Bachelor of Education in Chemistry and three years of experience teaching secondary-level students. I have successfully prepared students for CSEC and CAPE examinations, helping them gain not only higher grades but a genuine understanding of chemistry. My lessons are built on clear explanations, real-world applications, and interactive problem-solving, creating a supportive environment where you can ask questions freely and feel confident about your progress. As a chemistry tutor, I believe in making chemistry understandable, practical, and relevant. I use a student-centered teaching style, adapting lessons to match each learner’s pace, background, and preferred way of learning. I break down complex topics into simple, relatable concepts with clear explanations, interactive discussions, and plenty of guided practice.
A typical lesson begins with a quick recap of prior knowledge, followed by a clear explanation of new concepts using diagrams, examples, and real-life connections. I encourage students to ask questions throughout, and we actively work through practice problems together. Lessons usually end with a short review and a few independent practice questions to build confidence.
I have a solid background with a Bachelor of Education in Chemistry and two years of classroom experience, giving me both deep subject knowledge and strong teaching skills.
I am patient, approachable, and committed to helping students feel confident and supported as they learn.
I use relatable, real-world examples to make chemistry interesting and relevant.
