About Kaida
My name is Kaida and I am a graduate student from Central Saint Martins, the second best art school in the world. I have a deep passion for portrait drawing and have been practising it for 10 years now. I decided to start teaching because I want to help people get started with the wonders of making art in a world where you can just get AI to do it for you. Whether you are picking up a pencil for the first time or looking to refine your skills, my portrait tutoring is designed for any level. We will work exclusively with graphite pencil on paper, focusing on the core principles that bring a drawing to life. You will choose the exact style you want to master, from loose, expressive impressions to hyper-realism. Our journey begins with the absolute basics of form, treating the human face like a unique landscape. By starting with tonal studies, I will train your eye to notice the subtle shift in tones between absolute light and absolute dark. Capturing these delicate variations is the true secret to achieving stunning realism and a convincing likeness.
Together, we will build your confidence by focusing on individual elements of the face to gain deep familiarity with its features. You will not just learn how to draw, but how to prepare; I will guide you on what materials to use, how to choose the perfect reference image, and exactly how to look at that reference with an artist's eye. My approach is entirely focused on building your observation skills, teaching you how to break down the complex shapes of the face into manageable parts. By training your mind to see forms and values clearly, you will unlock the ability to capture an accurate, striking likeness every single time.
