About Erica

I graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in French from UCLA. There, I was also employed by my French professor where I aided in designing bilingual (French/English) websites that certify teachers to work in French and English schools. I have lived in France, where I assisted with teaching English to French elementary school children. In the States, I worked at an international school, teaching French to American children. I tutor various levels of French, and have tutored students in elementary, middle, high school, college, and adults just looking to learn the language for pleasure. I can help with French reading, writing, speaking, and more. I believe learning should be fun, so I do everything I can to make lessons enjoyable for my students!

About the lesson

I create lesson plans customizable to the student by speaking with the student about their specific learning goals. I then use textbooks and/or worksheets grouped by theme. A typical lesson plan would involve reviewing any notes from the previous lesson, learning new vocabulary words and applying this vocabulary to activities such as reading passages, true or false questions, and learning games like "Guess who?" and "Pictionary," because I like to show that learning a language can be fun. There is also an element of grammar in each lesson to help the student build their skills in this area. I am very encouraging and patient with my students because I understand how various subjects - especially languages, can be challenging. I do everything I can to motivate my students and explain concepts so that they better understand the material. I am very passionate about teaching and languages, and I believe that my love of these two things is reflected through my teaching and the progress my students make during lessons.
