About Emerald
I am a recent graduate from the University of California Santa Cruz with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. I’ve taken 5 university math courses (Calculus 1 through Real Analysis) with a 4.0 grade average in those courses. At UCSC, I spent a year as a peer tutor for Applied Calculus where I received extensive training in teaching methods, equity, and inclusion. While my final math scores were very high, I am also familiar with failure. As a first-generation, low-income student, I faced many academic barriers. I could not pass my first few math exams with the skills I had when I entered UCSC, but I learned how to study and improve those scores. I look forward to working with you all to teach you how to do the same :)

Many students struggle with confidence in their mathematical abilities and knowing which steps to take to find the correct solutions. In my sessions, students will learn study techniques and habits that will enable them to learn how to study independently and gain confidence in their problem solving skills.

I had the pleasure of working alongside Emerald in multiple collaborative Economic research projects. Emerald constantly showed her comprehension and mastery in multiple statistical and mathematical concepts, as well as demonstrating her ability to clarify these concepts with her peers.
I am pleased to highly recommend Emerald as a statistics tutor. Emerald has a deep understanding of statistical concepts as well as a clear and patient tutoring style. She has consistently demonstrated the ability to break down complex statistical topics into easy-to-understand parts, ensuring her students not only grasp the material but also gain the confidence to apply it effectively. I have had the privilege of tutoring alongside her while she pursued an undergraduate degree. She truly has a passion for student success. I am confident that anyone seeking to improve their statistics skills would greatly benefit from Emerald's expertise.
