About Cesar

Graduated from UCV in Caracas, Venezuela Spanish is my native language. My experience teaching Spanish comes from the time when I worked in the oil industry and was the translator and Spanish teacher for the expatriate staff of the companies Chevron, Exxon Mobil and ConocoPhillips, where I managed to gain 5 years of experience in teaching Spanish as a second language to people from the United States and the United Kingdom achieving great results. My second experience teaching the language was in a tourist camp for 3 years with European tourists whose ages were 19-25 mostly spent 3 months here in Venezuela and were able to develop the practice of the language constantly with the local population achieving great progress.

About the lesson

Consistency is key. Regular, short sessions are more effective than occasional long ones. We practice all four skills: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Don't be afraid to make mistakes. They are a valuable learning experience. We immerse as much as possible. Surround with the language. We make it enjoyable. Learning should be fun, not a chore. Course Title: Conversational Spanish for Everyday Life Target Audience: Adults aged 18-60 with no prior or limited knowledge of Spanish. Course Duration: Typically a semester-long course (12-16 weeks), meeting 2-3 times per week for 1-2 hours per session. Can be adapted for shorter or longer formats. Course Goals: Enable students to communicate effectively in everyday situations using basic Spanish. Develop fundamental skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing Spanish. Provide a foundational understanding of Spanish grammar and vocabulary. Introduce students to the culture and customs of Spanish-speaking countries. Foster a positive and engaging learning environment that promotes confidence. Teaching Methodology: Communicative Approach: Focus on using the language for real-life interactions. Interactive Activities: Pair work, group activities, role-playing, games. Visual Aids: Use of images, flashcards, maps, and other visuals to support learning. Auditory Aids: Audio recordings, music, and podcasts. Authentic Materials: Exposing students to real-world language use. Varied Learning Styles: Cater to different learning styles (visual, auditory, kinesthetic) through diverse activities. Error Correction: Provide constructive feedback and focus on communication over perfection. Positive Reinforcement: Create a supportive and encouraging learning environment. Assessment: Class Participation: Active engagement in activities and discussions. Homework Assignments: Workbook exercises, vocabulary lists, and short writing tasks. Quizzes: Periodic quizzes on grammar and vocabulary. Oral Presentations: Short presentations or dialogues to assess speaking ability. Final Project/Presentation: A short presentation of themselves or a topic of their interest. Final Exam: A comprehensive exam covering all course material (optional depending on the format). Key for Adult Learners: Relevance: Connect the material to real-life situations that are relevant to their experiences. Practical Application: Emphasize the practical use of the language, not just memorization of rules. Engaging Activities: Keep the learning engaging and fun to maintain motivation.
