About Spencer
I have recently received a Bachelor of Arts from UNC Asheville. I majored in Mathematics, with a concentration in pure mathematics. I received distinction in Mathematics, and I also was given the top mathematics student of the year award. I have participated in multiple undergraduate research projects, including an NSF sponsored REU in Summer 2022. I was accepted into Purdue's Mathematics PhD program, and I will begin this Fall.

I have three semesters of tutoring experience in UNCA's Math Lab. This consisted of several hours a week of being available for in-person math tutoring. I assisted college students with classes including Precalculus, Calculus I-III, Differential Equations, and Linear Algebra. I also did private Calculus tutoring for a high school senior. This was in a hybrid format. I also have experience presenting in various mathematics courses, such as Topology and Number Theory. As for my methods, I will solve a problem for a student when it seems like the most expedient option, but I also like to let the student attempt to move forward in the question while I provide hints and tips along the way. I also like to encourage students and remind them that everyone else makes mistakes too.
