About Andrew

School is a difficult time. Between balancing extracurriculars, commitments to friends and family, and alone time, it is hard to find time to study. I enjoy not only helping my students overcome struggles within specific subjects, but also giving them the tools to take control of their education and schedule by helping them to grow into well-rounded and efficient individuals.

As a first-generation student, the study skills and routines I have developed have allowed me to succeed everywhere from high school at home to my college classes at Yale.

At every step of my journey, I have enjoyed sharing the academic knowledge and study habits I acquire with students in my community. I have taught students in a wide variety of settings and have experience tutoring nearly every subject I have studied during my education.

I look forward to sharing my lessons with you! I am incredibly excited to learn about your passions and support your pursuit of your goals.

About the lesson

I hold each student's background and unique learning style at the center of my work.

In order to best cater my lesson to the student, I begin by asking them which materials, forms of media, and teaching styles best suit them. I prefer to hear about which subject they are struggling with and which aspects of the material are most difficult for them prior to our meeting.

At the start of the lesson, we set goals which will we pursue throughout the tutoring session. I have the student explain their understanding of the topic to me and help them identify the gaps that need to bee filled. From there, I typically work to help the student fill these gaps in knowledge through targeted lessons and encouraging active participation in learning. After we tackle their specific issues, I conclude by having them summarize what they have learned in the session and putting their newfound knowledge into context of their class or curriculum.

This approach and focus on empathy has allowed me to connect with and tutor students of all ages and backgrounds. I am grateful to have had the chance to tutor and learn from so many wonderful students. To me, this experience and focus on community and individuality is my biggest strength.

These lessons are for students of any age. I have experience tutoring students in K-6, high school, and even upper division college classes in a wide variety of subjects.
