About Muping

Muping is a pianist and violinist currently based in London. She started the piano when she was 3 years old, and had 6+ years of teaching experience.

Born in China, she achieved her ABRSM Grade 8 certification at the age of 10. She then moved to Devon, England, where she attained her ARSM and DipABRSM qualifications. Continuing to pursue her passion for music, she began learning the violin at the age of 11 and earned her Grade 8 qualification with Distinction three years later.

Muping joined Chetham’s School of Music, Manchester, in sixth form where she studied piano under Bingbing Li. Through this institution, she had the opportunity to participate in various masterclasses, such as those by Philip Fowke and Peter Donohoe. Furthermore, she had many performance opportunities in the city at venues such as the Stoller Hall and Bridgewater Hall. During her time in Manchester, she further refined skills including the Alexandre technique, collaborating as part of an ensemble, and advanced sight-reading.

Combining her love for piano playing with musicology studies, she undertook her studies at King’s College London, graduating with First Class Honours in 2023. During her undergraduate years, she honed her skills in music theory while also dedicating herself to exploring major composers and their works, culminating in a comprehensive understanding of musical interpretation and expression through performance. This was further facilitated through her guidance under the university’s collaboration with the Royal Academy of Music in London, where she studied under Professor Florian Mitrea.

These academic experiences not only provided her with deeper insights into piano performance but also intensified her immense affection for playing the piano. Eager to share her passion with others, she embarked on her teaching career informally around the age of 15 by offering lessons to her neighbour’s children. She provides a range of lessons tailored to students’ needs and proficiency levels, catering to individuals aged five and upwards. Her students include those seeking to uncover a new passion as well as individuals aiming to advance in their ongoing musical journeys. Muping possesses a profound passion and adeptness in conveying her extensive musical knowledge through innovative and enjoyable teaching approaches.
