Hi, i'm Abby. I love learning especially math (In fact, I have gone online to solve Algebra problems for fun). I have Autism and ADHD. Now if you don't know what that means the best understanding is my brain works differently than a lot of people. Because of it I get really excited sometimes and it's also what fuels my passion to understand why things work and explain it to others.

I like to start out tutoring a new student by assessing where their skill set is at as well as how they learn best (ex. are they a visual learner, auditory, or tactile. I also like to asses their focus to determine if and how frequently we will need to take brain brakes while tutoring).
Based off of my initial assessment I choose a starting point from which to work. I make sure I have a good grasp on understanding why the subject matter works. I then plan my lesson according to the student's learning style and what I think will give them the best understanding of the concept we are working with. I will also do a lot of improvising if that method is not helping the student.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my Autism and ADHD. My brain works differently than most people and because of this is frees me up to think more outside of the box. I also have a better insight into kids who's brains work differently as well. Because of my ADHD I can get hyper focused on a topic which comes in handy when studying and preparing for a lesson. I also have a lot of excitement I can bring to the table.
