About Joshua
I am a graduate of Master of Science in Applied Mathematics with extensive experience in teaching Mathematics and Statistics. I am passionate about helping students understand challenging concepts, develop strong problem-solving skills, and gain confidence in their abilities.
My teaching approach is patient, supportive, and student-centered. I believe that every student learns differently, so I adapt my lessons to their level, learning pace, and specific needs. Rather than simply giving answers, I guide students through the process and help them understand the reasoning behind each solution.
Whether you are a high school student preparing for an examination, a college student taking Mathematics or Statistics, or a student working on quantitative research, I am here to help. My goal is to make Mathematics and Statistics easier to understand, practical, and less intimidating.
With my academic background and teaching experience, you can expect clear explanations, well-structured lessons, practical examples, and a professional learning environment. Together, we can build your knowledge, improve your skills, and develop the confidence you need to succeed.

My Approach as a Tutor
As a graduate of Master of Science in Applied Mathematics, I believe that effective tutoring goes beyond simply explaining formulas or providing solutions. My approach is student-centered, practical, and focused on helping learners understand the concepts, develop problem-solving skills, and gain confidence in Mathematics and Statistics.
Teaching Methods and Techniques
I use a combination of concept-based instruction, guided problem-solving, examples, questioning, and practical applications. I begin by identifying the student's current level of understanding and learning difficulties. I then explain concepts step by step using simple and clear language before gradually introducing more challenging problems.
For Mathematics, I emphasize understanding the reasoning behind formulas and procedures rather than memorization. For Statistics, I connect statistical concepts to real-life situations and data so students can understand how statistical methods are applied in research and decision-making. I also encourage students to explain their solutions and reasoning, which helps develop critical thinking and independent problem-solving skills.
Typical Lesson Plan
A typical lesson begins with a short review or diagnostic activity to determine the student's prior knowledge. I then introduce the new concept using clear explanations and examples. After that, we work through guided exercises together, followed by independent practice where the student applies what they have learned.
At the end of the lesson, I provide feedback, address remaining difficulties, and give a short summary or assessment to check understanding. When appropriate, I also provide practice exercises or recommendations for further study.
What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor
What sets me apart is my background in Applied Mathematics, which allows me to combine strong mathematical foundations with practical applications. I can teach not only computational procedures but also the reasoning and analytical thinking behind them.
I am patient and adaptable, and I adjust my teaching strategies according to the student's needs, pace, and level of understanding. My goal is not simply to help students obtain the correct answer but to help them understand why the solution works and become more confident and independent learners.
Who My Lessons Are For
My lessons are primarily intended for high school and college/university students who need support in Mathematics and Statistics. I can assist students in subjects such as:
Basic and Advanced Mathematics
Algebra
Trigonometry
Calculus
Differential Equations
Probability
Statistics
Research Statistics
Mathematical Modeling
Applied Mathematics
I can also provide assistance to college students conducting quantitative research, particularly in understanding statistical concepts, selecting appropriate statistical tests, interpreting results, and presenting statistical findings appropriately.
Whether a student needs help understanding a difficult topic, preparing for an examination, completing practice exercises, or strengthening their mathematical and statistical foundation, I aim to create a supportive learning environment where they can learn at their own pace and develop lasting skills.
