• When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

  I developed an interest in my chosen field during my high school years. I had a few inspiring teachers who ignited my passion for learning and helped me see the beauty in various subjects. This interest deepened during my college years, where I found myself naturally drawn to helping my peers understand complex concepts.
  
  My interest in private tutoring began when I started assisting classmates and friends with their studies. I found it incredibly rewarding to see their progress and the moment when everything clicked for them. This motivated me to pursue private tutoring more seriously, as I realized the impact personalized guidance can have on a student's academic journey.

• Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

  I teach mathematics, covering a range of topics from algebra and geometry to calculus and statistics. I particularly enjoy discussing problem-solving strategies and mathematical reasoning with my students. Topics like algebraic equations, geometric proofs, co-ordinate geometry and calculus concepts are exciting for me because they form the foundation for understanding more complex mathematical ideas.
  
  One of my favorite areas to teach is calculus, as it allows us to explore the principles of change and motion, which have real-world applications in physics, engineering, and economics. I also enjoy teaching algebra, as it helps students develop logical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  
  While I find all areas of math important, some topics, like rote memorization of formulas, can be a bit less engaging. However, I strive to show students how these formulas are derived and used in practical scenarios, making the learning process more meaningful and interesting. My goal is to help students see the beauty and relevance of mathematics in their everyday lives.

• Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

  Yes, I had several role models who inspired me. One of the most influential was my high school math teacher, Mrs. Anderson. She had a unique ability to make complex topics understandable and exciting. Her enthusiasm for mathematics was contagious, and she always encouraged us to think critically and ask questions. She showed me that math isn't just about numbers and equations-it's about problem-solving, creativity, and logical thinking.

  In high school, I was part of an advanced math class that was particularly challenging. We were studying calculus, and our teacher, Mr. Thompson, was known for his tough but fair teaching style. One day, he gave us a particularly difficult problem to solve. Most of us were struggling and feeling quite discouraged.
  
  Mr. Thompson noticed our frustration and decided to share a personal story. He told us about his own struggles with calculus when he was a student. Despite his passion for math, there was a point where he found himself on the verge of giving up because he couldn't grasp certain concepts. What changed everything for him was a dedicated tutor who helped him see calculus from a different perspective. • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

  As a mathematics teacher, I encounter various challenges. One ongoing difficulty is addressing diverse learning styles and abilities effectively. Each student learns differently, requiring me to adapt my teaching methods continually. Engaging students in abstract concepts like algebra and calculus can also be challenging, as these topics can seem daunting or irrelevant to some. Moreover, ensuring students grasp foundational concepts before moving to more complex material demands patience and creativity. Additionally, staying updated with new teaching techniques and technologies while overcoming students' preconceived notions about math are ongoing challenges. Nonetheless, these challenges motivate me to innovate and enhance my teaching approach continuously.

• Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

  My passion lies in teaching mathematics, particularly inspiring students to enjoy problem-solving and critical thinking. I strive to make math accessible and relevant by using real-world examples and fostering a positive learning environment. Beyond teaching, I am passionate about lifelong learning, continuously expanding my own knowledge to enhance my teaching methods. Overall, my goal is to instill confidence, curiosity, and a love for learning in my students, helping them succeed academically and beyond.
