About James
I have over a year of tutoring experience, predominantly on the MyTutor Schools Programme. During this time I have gained 100% 5-star reviews from my students. This means I am trusted by schools to provide high-quality tuition to struggling students in lessons designed to complement the school curriculum. This includes both individual and group tuition. These lessons are a part of the National Tutoring Programme, a government-funded initiative designed to help disadvantaged students who have been affected by school closures. I am currently studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of Birmingham and achieved 3 grade 9s, 5 grade 8s, and 2 grade 7s at GCSE including grade 9 in physics and 8 in Maths. I also achieved grades A*BB at A level in Maths, Physics, Product Design, and an A in the Extended Project Qualification. I also currently hold an Enhanced DBS Certificate.

I aim to help students with the extensive use of real-world examples of what they are studying as I believe this connection between theory and reality is the best way to develop a thorough understanding of the given content. This is because it will allow the student to apply the concepts to a wide range of situations, rather than simply memorising how to do one single exam question, allowing them to be more prepared for both exams and the real world. I also use this connection to real life to help keep students engaged, as it allows me to use examples relating to things that the individual student finds exciting rather than just numbers or letters on a page.
