About Megan
Hello! My name is Megan and I’m an absolute history fiend with a passion for how the social sciences intersect and inform our daily lives. I enjoy reading, running, and listening to podcasts in my spare time. When becoming a teacher, I found myself incredibly well-suited to the planning, preparation, and adjustments that are constantly happening in my classroom. I believe my background in theater and performing is something I carry with me into my practice as well. I like finding ways to incorporate music or current artistic representations of topics into my lessons in order to better humanize the content we’re learning. Lastly-I have found that of all the qualities one can possess to help make them successful, a sense of humor is of the utmost importance. Always take things with a smile and a find positive ways around problem-solving before meeting them with emotions based in negativity!

- I like to start with knowing where my students’ expertise sits! What are you an expert in? How can that help us learn more together? I design my lessons for universal access; beginning with an “aerial view” of a topic, with plans to zoom in as close as we want based on student interest.
- My lessons will follow a warm-up, instruction, activity based format; some days we may have all three elements, others we may prioritize instruction or an application activity. I let my students’ interests guide my design at all times.
- I’m a lifelong learner, I am constantly looking for new information or following up on geopolitical developments to continue to fill in my own perspective and knowledge. This commitment to learning keeps my lessons up to date and exciting!
- My lessons will work best for students in high school and early levels of college courses; if you are looking to refine your knowledge before choosing a specialty to focus on, I can help you!
