Spanish
For languages, I like to introduce students to short stories, poems, and quotes to give them a tangible contact with the language. In addition to this, a substantial vocabulary will be practiced. The goal with language lessons for me is to introduce the student to the reality of what the words point to more so than merely memorizing words. Lessons are for middle schoolers to high schoolers.
For reading, I engage classical texts and seek to show the rhetoric and logic utilized by the author. In addition, I give reading analysis questions to help students practice reading comprehension. Lessons are mainly for high schoolers.
For philosophy and theology, I take mainly just high schoolers. I specialize in logic and ethics and try to introduce students not only to the theoretical background of philosophy, but also the practical aspects of it such as deductive and inductive reasoning, and living according to right reason. Lessons will look like practice syllogism problems and reading questions on philosophical excerpts. Theology will look similar but will engage more the faith aspect of reasoning. I also tutor Church history.
My primary goals as a tutor is not to become the best tutor, but to simply guide the students in understanding what they were made to understand so that they can become the best student.
