About Henry

Hey there! I’m currently a student at CSULB, getting my master's in Social Work! I bring a pretty diverse background to my tutoring. I've worked as a classroom teacher and a lead educator in specialized settings, which really taught me how to adapt to all kinds of different learning styles. Because my academic focus is on social work and counseling, my approach to tutoring is heavily built on patience, empathy, and helping you manage any stress or frustration that comes with learning tough subjects.

When I’m not studying or working, I like to keep things pretty laid back. You can usually find me exploring around Long Beach, hanging out with my dog, June, getting invested in a good fantasy book, or playing video games. Math doesn’t have to be stressful. Let’s break it down together at your own pace!!

Hey there! If math is currently causing you or your child a ton of stress, I completely get it. It’s one of those subjects that can feel incredibly frustrating when a concept just isn't clicking, and it’s completely normal to feel a bit of "math anxiety."
My background is a little different than your average math tutor. I’ve worked as a classroom teacher and an educator in specialized settings, which taught me one major lesson: absolutely nobody learns the exact same way. Because I also have a deep background studying human behavior and social work, my approach is focused on patience, empathy, and building up your confidence first. I'm not here to lecture you; I'm here to support you, listen to where you're getting stuck, and help you get over those mental roadblocks.

I'm happy to travel to either your home, a nearby library, or public space to hold lessons! I have all materials needed, and look forward to working with you! I do charge a travel fee if it's beyond 5 miles from my home, which is located near Bixby Park in Long Beach. I also can host lessons in my home in the backyard, but you have to be dog friendly!
