About Luis

As a first-generation Latino who grew up in poverty and in a single parent household, school was very tough to say the least. My grades were below average throughout K-12, but I DRASTICALLY changed my life after high school. NOW, I am a graduate student at YALE UNIVERSITY. My dream is to be a VERSATILE science professor. Although I am a Biochemistry/Biomedical major, I fell in LOVE with tutoring math, physics, chemistry, biology, etc. I started back in 2014 as a college tutor then progressed into a freelance tutor over the years. I am EXPERIENCED in tutoring students as young as 3, with learning disabilities, and great with large groups. I hold 3 Associate of Sciences for Math and Science, Biology, and PE Fitness and Wellness with Great Distinction (GPA 3.8) from Moreno Valley College. Last year, I graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, cum laude (GPA 3.85). I tutor PHYSICS (Mechanical, Electromagnetism, Thermodynamics, Fluid dynamics, Optics), CHEMISTRY (General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry), BIOLOGY (General Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Population and Organismal, Human Genetics, Plant Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Virology, etc.), MATHEMATICS (Algebra, College Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus 1,2,3, Differential Equations, Linear Algebra) and ESSAY WRITING (Reading, Writing, Resumes, Cover Letters, Personal Statements, Statements of Purpose etc.) TAKE AWAY: If I did it, then you can too My goal as a tutor is to meet students where they are, understand them, and guide them to do BETTER than me.
