About Samuel

I earned both my B.S. and M.S. in Physics from Texas State University, where my graduate work focused on physics education research and educator training. My background combines strong technical expertise with a deep understanding of how students learn challenging material.

With over seven years of teaching experience, I have worked with students from diverse academic backgrounds and skill levels. I understand that frustration in physics often comes not from a lack of ability, but from gaps in conceptual foundations. In one-on-one sessions, I tailor explanations to your learning style and pace, helping you replace confusion with clarity and confidence.

I approach physics the way I approach puzzles and new challenges — with curiosity, structure, and persistence. I aim to help my students develop the same mindset, so they not only solve problems correctly, but understand why their solutions work.

You can expect professionalism, patience, and clear communication in every session. My goal is not just to help you pass a course, but to help you build skills that last well beyond the classroom.

My Approach as a Tutor

I teach through guided inquiry. Rather than simply showing solutions, I ask students to explain their current understanding of a concept or problem. This allows me to identify misconceptions and gaps in reasoning. From there, I use targeted questions to help them confront and resolve misunderstandings themselves. My goal is to build conceptual clarity and help you understand how, when and why we use physics tools.

I emphasize:

-Deep conceptual understanding
-Structured problem-solving strategies
-Developing intuition alongside mathematical skill
-Confidence through active engagement
---------------------------
What a Typical Lesson Looks Like:
A typical session begins with a quick diagnostic discussion: the student explains what they know and where they’re stuck. We then:

1. Break the concept into its core physical ideas
2. Work through an example collaboratively
3. Practice with guided problems
4. Gradually move toward independent problem-solving

When helpful, I provide additional practice problems and structured worksheets designed to reinforce both conceptual reasoning and calculation skills.
----------------------------
What sets me apart as a tutor:
With 7+ years of teaching experience and an M.S. in Physics from Texas State University, I bring both subject mastery and pedagogical training. I don’t just teach students how to get the right answer — I help them understand why the answer makes sense.

Students often find that physics becomes less intimidating and more logical once they learn how to think about it properly.

One of the reasons why students find physics difficult is how broadly a range of knowledge is called upon. This is a hard subject, and there is no shame in asking questions, or admitting that you don't quite understand a "basic" concept. We are all human, and if I don't have the answer for a question, we can seek it out together.

Who My Lessons Are For:

-High school physics (regular, honors, AP)

-College-level introductory physics

-Algebra-based and calculus-based physics

Topics include:

-Mechanics

-Waves & thermodynamics

-Electricity & magnetism

My lessons are ideal for students who want stronger fundamentals, better problem-solving skills, or preparation for exams.
