About Tom
Arguably the most satisfying thing to watch is the moment that you make concept "click" in a student's head.
Too often, I find students who work extremely hard to memorise topics to no avail; guiding them to a position of genuine understanding, by building up from the basics, not only helps them with the specific topic at hand, but also enables them to learn... how to learn! Such that they don't even need a tutor anymore.
I have no interest in continuously taking money from desperate parents. I enjoy helping students reach their true potential, by teaching them the best way to learn maths and physics, not the textbook approach drilled into their heads by schools.

My method of teaching is to break down every subject into its core concepts so that my pupil can truly understand the topic, as opposed to memorising information off by heart. I have found this to be very effective as understanding why a method works means that you will never forget it. This is true for both maths and physics. I am not a fan of setting repetitive worksheets to "burn" methods into a pupils head as this isn't sustainable for learning an entire exam specification.
The ideal length of a lesson is around 1 hour for most students but I will happily do longer for those who think they will benefit from it.
I have been tutoring members of my school (Manchester Grammar School) since GCSE through to A level both at my level of education and younger years too.
I teach A level and GCSE physics and maths for all exam boards. As well as Edexcel Further Maths with the Statistics and Mechanics Options.
