About Esther

am a University of Cape Town graduate with a background in Biology and Environmental Science, and I am passionate about helping young learners develop a strong foundation in Science.

I understand that every child learns differently. My lessons are therefore patient, supportive and adapted to each learner's individual level and learning style. I focus on creating an environment where children feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and building their confidence as they learn.

Whether your child needs help understanding a topic, completing schoolwork, preparing for a test, or simply wants to strengthen their Science skills, I will work with them at a pace that allows them to genuinely understand the material.

My goal is not simply to help children get the right answers, but to help them understand why the answers are right and develop a lasting curiosity about the world around them.

Lessons are conducted online and are structured, engaging and tailored to each learner's needs. I look forward to helping your child become a more confident and enthusiastic Science learner.

# My Approach to Tutoring

I am a graduate of the **University of Cape Town (UCT)** with a background in **Biology and Environmental Science**. I offer online Science tutoring for primary school learners.

My approach is centered on helping children **understand concepts rather than simply memorize information**. I use simple explanations, questions, examples from everyday life, visual aids and age-appropriate activities to make Science easier to understand and more engaging.

# Teaching Methodology

During lessons, I aim to:

* Identify what the learner already understands and where they need additional support.
* Break difficult concepts into smaller, manageable ideas.
* Use real-life examples to connect Science to the child's everyday experiences.
* Ask questions throughout the lesson to check understanding.
* Encourage the learner to explain concepts in their own words.
* Use diagrams, illustrations and interactive activities where appropriate.
* Adapt the pace and level of explanation to suit each individual learner.
* Include short revision exercises to reinforce what has been taught.

I want learners to feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes while they learn. My aim is to build both **understanding and confidence**.

# Typical Lesson Length

Lessons are typically **45–60 minutes**, depending on the learner's age, concentration span and individual needs.

For younger learners, I can use shorter, more varied activities within the lesson to maintain engagement.

# Qualifications and Experience

I hold a degree from the **University of Cape Town**, with a background in **Biology and Environmental Science**.

My academic background gives me a strong foundation in Science and allows me to explain scientific concepts accurately while adapting them to a primary-school level.

# Who My Lessons Are For

My lessons are primarily aimed at **primary school learners**, approximately **ages 6–14**, who need additional support with Science.

I can assist learners who:

* Need help understanding concepts taught at school.
* Want additional Science practice.
* Need support with homework and revision.
* Are preparing for school tests or assessments.
* Would benefit from one-on-one attention and a slower or more personalized pace.
