About Jake
Hello! My name is Jake Robeson, and I'm a 26-year-old passionate about mathematics and education. I graduated from the University of Delaware in 2020 and began a fulfilling teaching career at First State Military Academy in Clayton, Delaware, where I taught algebra, geometry, and trigonometry for three years. Throughout my time there, I dedicated myself to supporting students' academic growth by holding after school tutoring sessions for any interested learners and providing specialized AP Calculus test preparation. In addition to my teaching responsibilities, I also served as the head girls' volleyball coach, combining my love for athletics with my commitment to mentorship and leadership development. My efforts were recognized when I received First State Military's 2023 Teacher of the Year award.
This past August, my fiancé was offered a job in Colorado so we took the exciting opportunity. I took this chance to enroll in graduate school and am currently pursuing a Masters degree in Administrative Leadership. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy staying active by playing volleyball, improving my culinary skills through cooking, and playing chess. I believe in fostering a positive and supportive learning environment where students feel empowered to excel academically and reach their full potential. I look forward to leveraging my experience and passion for education to help students succeed in math and beyond!

As a math tutor, my approach is centered on fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, exploring mathematical concepts, and building confidence in their abilities. I believe in breaking down complex mathematical concepts into manageable steps, providing clear explanations, and offering plenty of opportunities for guided practice and reinforcement.
A typical lesson plan begins with an assessment of the student's current understanding and areas of struggle. Based on this assessment, I develop targeted learning objectives and a customized curriculum to address the student's specific needs. Each lesson incorporates a variety of instructional techniques, including visual aids, hands-on activities, problem-solving exercises, and interactive discussions. I prioritize active student participation and strive to create a supportive and collaborative learning environment where students feel empowered to take ownership of their learning journey.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my dedication to building strong relationships with my students and fostering a growth mindset that encourages perseverance and resilience in the face of challenges. I am committed to providing ongoing feedback and support, celebrating successes, and helping students develop effective study skills and problem-solving strategies that extend beyond the tutoring sessions.
