About Ciarán

I'm a graduate with a Masters in Theoretical Physics from the University of St Andrews, Scotland. I have worked professionally as a Physics Researcher and am passionate about sharing my love of Maths and Physics.

I am a keen musician, hiker, and surfer, and have recently taken up triathlon!

About the lesson

With 4 A*s at A-Level and over 5 years of experience tutoring Maths and Physics, I have found that a focus on true understanding leads to the best results. This forms the basis of all my lessons.

With this in mind, I like to take time at the beginning of a lesson to talk through what has been going well for the student, and also identify what mightn't be going so well. When we have identified any problem concepts, I tend to spend the rest of the lesson working through worked examples to help the student reach a deeper understanding and build confidence in approaching difficult questions. Most of my lessons last between 45 minutes and an hour.

His approach has been to listen to the problems my daughter is having, work through examples together by asking questions to prompt my daughter to think through options and then identifying the common themes that are thrown up to work on further. My daughter is feeling more confident about tackling her exam and is really happy with Ciarán :)
