About Harry
I am a dedicated history student and enthusiast currently pursuing a Master's degree, specialising in British, European, and American history from the 19th Century to the present day. My academic journey has provided me with deep expertise in these areas, as well as extensive experience in research, essay writing, and dissertation writing up to the Master's level.
My passion for history is matched by my commitment to helping students succeed academically. I have honed my skills in crafting well-structured, compelling essays and dissertations, which is an essential part of excelling in history. My essay planning method involves breaking down topics into manageable sections and then building up a coherent and persuasive argument. For GCSE and A-Level students, I emphasise the PEEL method to create strong, well-supported essays to meet exam criteria.
With a focus on making history engaging and accessible, I am here to support you at every stage of your learning journey - from understanding complex historical events to developing the skills needed to write with clarity and precision.

My approach to teaching history is student-centred, focusing on creating a supporting learning environment that caters to each student's unique needs and learning style. With my extensive experience in academic writing and dissertations, I help students refine their writing, improve their analytical skills, and approach their assignments with confidence.
A typical lesson would include:
1. Introduction and recap (5-10mins): We start each session with a brief review of previous lessons or the topic at hand. This helps reinforce key points and set the stage for new topics.
2. Main topic exploration (25-30mins): The core of the lesson involves diving into the topic. This includes:
A. A focused discussion on the subject.
B. Analysis of key historical events, figures, and sources.
C. Interactive questioning to encourage critical thinking.
3. Skill development (15-20mins): We then work on specific skills related to the topic, such as essay writing, source evaluation, or argument construction. This may involve:
A. Structuring essays or arguments.
B. Breaking down past exam questions.
C. Reviewing drafts or preparing for presentations.
4. Discussions and reflection (10-15mins): At the end of each session, I encourage reflection through discussion or Q&A. We consolidate learning, address any uncertainties, and set goals for the next session.
5. Homework/Follow-up tasks: I provide optional follow-up tasks or readings to reinforce the lesson's content and prepare for the next session.
