About Alessandro
I want to teach because I remember exactly what it feels like to be stuck on a project — staring at a pattern that won’t sit right, or a concept that looks great on paper but falls apart the moment you try to make it. Having a tutor who could sit with me, show me the fix, and explain why it works would have saved me hours of frustration. That’s the kind of support I want to give my students: practical, patient, and focused on getting your actual project finished and looking the way you imagined it.
I’m currently based in Sydney, continuing my own studies while tutoring, so I understand the pressure of juggling coursework, deadlines, and the urge to just get it right the first time. My goal in every lesson is simple: leave you more confident and closer to a finished piece than when we started.

I focus on helping students actually finish their projects, not just learn techniques in isolation. Most fashion students I’d work with are stuck somewhere specific — a garment that won’t fit right, a pattern that doesn’t translate to fabric, a concept that hasn’t found its visual language — so my job is to unblock that, using your actual project as the material we work through.
My approach in practice:
Methodology: We start with your brief and where you’re stuck — whether that’s a design concept that isn’t resolving, a pattern that needs adjusting, or a garment that’s fighting you on the stand. I demonstrate the technique (draping on a mannequin, correcting a pattern, developing a visual direction), then guide you through doing it yourself with real-time feedback, rather than lecturing through theory. For visual/concept work, I help push your ideas further and get them onto paper or into a portfolio-ready format; for pattern cutting, draping, and construction, I focus on the specific technical fix your garment needs.
Lesson length: Standard sessions run 60-90 minutes, since pattern cutting and draping usually need enough time to actually get hands-on and make progress on the piece in front of us. I can also do shorter 45-minute sessions for quick troubleshooting.
Qualifications/experience: I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design (2.1) from London, covering pattern cutting, draping, and garment construction as core parts of the course, alongside design development and visual project work. I’ve also worked in fashion retail as a style advisor at Harvey Nichols and H&M, which gives me a practical eye for fit, fabric, and how a garment actually reads on the body — not just on paper.
Who my lessons are for: I work with fashion students (high school through university/college level) who need support with a specific project — whether that’s a portfolio piece, a coursework garment, or a pattern that isn’t working. Lessons suit anyone stuck partway through a project and needing hands-on, practical guidance to get it finished well.
