About Laure

After my rheto, I left for the United States where I followed an intensive program of English lessons for a year with the Education First program. At the end of my stay, my English level was C2. Following this experience, I was accepted at Maastricht University where the courses are given entirely in English. Compared to Belgian universities where students passively listen to their teachers explain the subject, the university system in Maastricht requires students to be their own teachers. Every day, we have to be present in classes of 10 students where we have to debate, discuss and solve problems together on the basis of a subject learned individually in books. This whole process of independent study in English, understanding scientific texts in English, oral discussion and understanding of others in English, and public speaking in English is my strength and asset today. After graduating, I spent a year to gain professional experience in the economic research sector and see what my expectations were for a future master's degree. In September 2019, I started a four-month internship at the United Nations in New York. Then, I did a four-month internship at the English-speaking research institute Ifo Institute for Economic Research in Munich. These experiences allowed me to continue to practice my English with native English and American people, and to develop my knowledge of professional English.

About the lesson

I am addressing anyone who wants to be more fluent in oral English. Since I have a great listening capacity, I easily adapt to your level and your expectations. My goal is for you to feel comfortable and for your goals to be achieved. I therefore propose conversations by phone or by video during which we discuss subjects chosen or not beforehand. We discuss in English together freely and without judgment. At the end of the call, I present my feedback to you and together we review ways to improve yourself. The goal of my service is not to offer a boring English course with complicated grammar rules that are difficult to apply; I offer my help to restore your confidence in speaking in English and achieve more and more natural fluency.
