About Emma
I have recently finished my A-levels at Greenhead College, studying Modern history, English literature, and psychology. While I enjoyed all of my studies, I am particularly an avid history fan, spending a lot of my free time learning about different historical events. I volunteering weekly at an archival centre, reading through archives and creating a summery of such information for there website. I have previous experience tutoring both A-level and GCSE, it was both exciting and rewarding, I loved being able to prove that revision is not boring as it is commonly perceived to be.

My tutoring lessons for A-Level and GCSE History and English Literature encompass a comprehensive approach to help students excel in these subjects. Each session begins with an organised and strategic plan aimed at maximising the effectiveness of revision. We initiate the process by conducting chronological revision, which allows students to grasp the sequence of events and key concepts within their respective courses.
I employ a variety of revision techniques tailored to the individual needs of each student. One widely used technique is blurting, which encourages students to recall information without hesitation. Additionally, quizzes are frequently incorporated into the sessions, allowing students to engage in active recall and self-assessment.
Following the revision stage, the next step involves putting the acquired knowledge into practice by tackling exam-style questions, familiarising students with the format, structure, and expectations of the exams they will face. Particularly for history, source analysis will be practiced. I provide constructive feedback on students' exam answers, highlighting strengths and areas for improvement, enabling students to refine their writing style, enhance their analytical thinking, and hone their ability to effectively convey their ideas within the constraints of exam conditions.
Ultimately, the goal is to help students develop the skills necessary to excel in exams by effectively conveying their ideas, demonstrating their knowledge, and showcasing their analytical abilities in a concise and structured manner. These skills not only lead to success in exams but also equip students with valuable communication skills that can be applied in various academic and professional contexts throughout their lives.
