About Claire
I am a passionate environmental scientist who believes in making learning meaningful, practical, and engaging. My approach is grounded in applied learning—helping students develop a clear understanding of concepts, their purpose, and how to use them effectively in real-world situations.
With over three years of experience as a hiking guide and outdoor educator working with school-aged students, I have developed the ability to adapt my teaching style to suit a wide range of learning needs and personalities. This hands-on experience has strengthened my communication skills, patience, and ability to explain complex ideas in clear, relatable ways.
I bring professionalism, reliability, and a genuine commitment to each student’s progress. My background in applying environmental science in real-world contexts allows me to connect academic concepts to practical examples, making lessons more engaging and easier to understand.
My goal is to build not only academic skills, but also confidence, independence, and a lasting curiosity for learning.

My approach to tutoring is centered on understanding each student as an individual and tailoring lessons to suit their unique learning style and needs. I prioritize creating a supportive, calm, and focused environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and exploring new ideas.
In terms of teaching methodology, I focus on developing strong problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and the confidence to apply knowledge independently. Rather than simply providing answers, I guide students through the reasoning process so they can build a deeper understanding and become more self-sufficient learners.
Lessons are flexible in length, typically ranging from 45 minutes to 1.5 hours, depending on the student’s preferences, goals, and concentration levels.
I have experience tutoring both primary and high school students, working with learners aged 10–18 across a range of abilities. My lessons are suitable for students who want to strengthen their foundational skills, improve academic performance, or gain confidence in their studies.
