About Luke
I truly hope each of my students can feel confident about their math skills as we work together through each school semester. Math tutoring has been very fulfilling for me, as it is the strongest subject I learned while I was still a student, and I'm glad that I can still apply those skills to the present. Whatever my students feel they are struggling with, I will do my utmost to convey the knowledge they are looking for. May we eventually be able to have fun together while learning.

For 7th graders up to college level, I've always found it fun to see my students fully grasp how to solve their math assignments. The number one goal I try to achieve when tutoring is to make sure that students can learn to solve problems on their own. I explain how a formula applies to the current problem, then guide them to a solution. If that doesn't clarify everything, I create a similar practice problem and show them how to solve it.
If the methods being taught in their classes seem more complicated compared to what I was taught, I'll show the methods I used to solve problems. This has worked out very well, since in some current curriculum steps are left out or are worded in a confusing manner.
I frequently reference my own old math textbooks, to find the
sections that coincide with the lessons the students are currently learning. My students are free to refer to these textbooks, so they can see the formulas and steps needed to solve the problem they're currently working on.
I specifically tutor in-person only, whether that be at my student's homes, or a public place like a library.

Details
My tutoring rates start at $25 an hour. For students that I have to travel a great distance to reach, roughly 15 miles or more, that rate may increase. If I tutor multiple students back to back, there is flexibility in this hourly rate.
