About Gregory
Hello! I'm Greg. I grew up with several complex learning needs and never performed particularly highly at school, but also derived a strong sense of achievement from doing well and was always curious about history and the humanities. I want to teach because I had wonderful tutors who taught me several invaluable things about work techniques in sixth form which helped me to go to Oxford and obtain a First-Class degree there. It would be my privilege to share my knowledge with other GCSE and Sixth Form students who feel capable and determined, yet left behind. I am enthusiastic to teach pupils of all abilities and interests in History, English, Philosophy and Theology/Religious studies, as well as to provide advice in University Applications. Hello! I am a committed and talented historian with a passion to instil young people with a sense of curiosity, joy, and achievement in the humanities. I am most well-equipped to teach pupils in History, English, Philosophy and Theology/Religious education between GCSE and International Baccalaureate, but am also happy to teach A-Level students. Although my personal focus is on Gender, Theology, and the history of medieval Europe, I can teach on any historical period or theme. I also have experience tutoring yrs 6-8 in guided reading for those pupils with complex learning needs who have fallen behind in their reading comprehension. I am dyslexic as well as autistic and with a chronic pain disorder, so I am very in-tune with the needs of neurodiverse and disabled pupils, and am very happy to give lessons which are neurodiverse/disability friendly. Finally, I am happy to offer one-off consultancy lessons for pupils looking for advice on Oxbridge applications, including personal statements, extra/supercurricular advice, and suggestions for further readings; as someone who successfully applied and consistently performed highly at Oxford, I have a good sense of what they are looking for! I am happy to teach according to a pupil's needs and interests, and so can offer both pre-planned lessons on specific curricular content as well as consultant lessons, in which a pupil can tell me specific weak points or curiosities which we can dig into together. For guided reading, I am happy to read books which are of particular interest to pupils, but can also make my own recommendations. I look forward to teaching you!
